New UK Company Law regarding web sites and e-mail

From 1st January 2007, new legislation governing the information that must be available on all electronic forms of communication came into effect. The new laws have been introduced to provide consumers with confidence that the web site/company they are dealing with are completely legitimate.
All companies with an online presence must now display the following information prominently on all forms of electronic communication including Electronic Mail and Web Sites.
- The Registered Company Address
This is a the address that the company is registered to with Companies House, or the Scottish/Irish equal - The Registered Company Number
This is the registration number of the company, as supplied by Companies House. The registration number must be accompanied by the region the number applies to; e.g. ‘Acme Limited, Company Number 000 0000 is Registered in England and Wales’ - The Registered VAT Number (if applicable)
If the company is VAT registered, the VAT registration number must be shown along side the Company registration number, even if the company does not sell goods through their web site
