@media 2007
@media, now in its third year will once again commence this summer in London… and now for the first time, in San Fransisco and Hong Kong.
@media is for like minded web and other ‘new’ media developers to congregate, eat, drink and enter symposium about all things new media related. It must be said that the event if very web bias, but Adobe Flash is always mentioned along with other emerging technologies, but almost all are web based.
The event itself consists of a number of seminars and workshops, plus aftershow outtings to local watering holes. From my experience, the quality of the seminars is excellent and I never feel that the price of the ticket (plus hotel fees) is unwarranted. A lot of the discussions last year centred around web development best practices and accessibility. E.g. Graceful degregation, WCAG 2.0 draft consultations and using AJAX without ignoring accessibility issues to name a few.
This year I will be again attending the London event, held at the Business Design Centre in Islington on June 7th and 8th. A lot of the industry heavy-weights are there, including the likes of Jemery Keith, one of my personal web heros (see here).
