Other projects

Well now that my company seems to be up and taking care of itself for the time being, my attention is turning back to some of the outstanding projects I have to complete.

Joe & Jo

First and foremost is Joe & Jo’s wedding video special edition DVD. I know you have been waiting for this for a long time, but things between December 2005 and now have been very busy. However, this is now back on track and by the end of May we should have the finished product. There is now an additional short short film explaining why it has taken so long to get out the door - but then again, this is a freebie - or is that frisbie? ;-)

Bibliothèque

Meanwhile, the script for Bibliothèque is now entering its final draft. We are currently looking for story board artists to help us take this story off the page and onto a lot of pinboards. 3D production is expected to start some time in November 2006 and I’m hoping to complete this short by the end of 2007. As this is a Polaris Digital Pictures project, funded solely by Polaris Digital there are no deadlines for this project - we’re adopting the Microsoft approach, ‘it’s ready when we say it’s ******* ready!’, a bit like Windows Vista really. Currently there is no decision regarding the medium for this film, although friendly chats with tv folks in Space Bar on fridays are certainly creating interest. Bibliothèque is a Polaris Digital Pictures / Sumodance Productions co-production, directed by Sam C. De Freyssinet and produced by Jo Clark.

Edgware

In addition to our animated short, I’m still working through the drafts of a short live-action film called Edgware, nothing to do with the 7/7 bombings I assure you. Currently this production is firmly in the pre-planning stage - as it has been for two years. But to put that into some perspective, the BBC drama Life on Mars took six years to get from planning to production - series two currently in production in Manchester at the moment. Edgware is to be produced by Polaris Digital Pictures, shot on location in London and Manchester.

Summer is here

Well, what I fine two days we have enjoyed here in Manchester. Pure sunshine and warm southerly winds have kept Sian and I in a state of eternal smugness.

So hopefully the weather will keep us smiling tomorrow as our party kicks off at 7pm, hopefully to a B.B.Q.

Sorry, has to be done in this sick world we live in…

Anyway… on with the blog ;)

Televolution

BBC Logo itv logo Channel 4 logo Five logo Sky logo

Above you’ll see very familia logos of the major British broadcasting companies currently operating in the UK - yes I know there are several others, but these are the biggest and most influential. However, how much longer are we going to associate television with those logos? In 20 years, will the word ‘television’ even be relevant?

PDnH Server 0.2.0 pre-alpha released

PDnH Server logoThe first release of PDnH Server was posted to SourceForge tonight. This is a pre-alpha release, not intended for general consumption, so don’t expect it to work yet. I released it because the mantra at SourceForge is release early, release often and I intend to do so.

So what is in this pre-alpha? Well basically all of the front end rendering engine as it stands. There currently is no administration or setup system yet, plus there are no MySQL setup scripts either and without going through the code and looking at the MySQL queries, you will not get this working.

This is purely a codebase release, so that any interested parties can download the code and see what is shaping up to be PDnH Server 0.2.0 (alpha), which hopefully will be released in the next two weeks.

You can get PDnH Server 0.2.0 pre-alpha at : http://sourceforge.net/projects/pdnh
