Polaris Digital rebranded

The new 2006 Polaris Digital logo
Polaris Digital has presented itself under a number of different badges over the past five years. The most recent logo was probably the most radical change in branding since Polaris Digital first designed its digital style logo in the winter of 2001.
For 2006, Polaris Digital has completely rebranded itself once more, hopefully for the last time in a while. Although it was a hard decision, the ‘circle’ motif that I have encorporated for so long has now gone. Rather than a symbol, we are using colour as our new motif. The distict greens used by the new brand echo the green nature of the new business, located in a very green building in Manchester. You will also notice that this blog has changed its colours from Blue to Green, bringing it inline with the rest of the brand.
But I thought it would be fun to quickly remind you all of the previous logos Polaris Digital has used previously when providing services.
2005

The 2005 Polaris Digital logo reworked the font used for the text. The font is a modified version of Gill Sans that I have called PD Gill. The circle was broken into three pieces and coloured red, green and blue - the component colours of video.
2003

The 2003 Polaris Digital logo broke the circle. I never really liked this logo as it reminded me of the London Underground logo. It lasted so long because it was still better than the previous one.
2002

The 2002 Polaris Digital logo was an extension to the first Polaris Digital logo. I am not sure what the inspiration for the circle was, whatever it was it has lasted for four years. This logo unfortunately didn’t have much thought put into it at the time, the text wasn’t legible when the logo was scaled down.
2001

The 2001 Polaris Digital logo was designed to emphasize the ‘digital’ of the name. This logo was doodled on a napkin during one lunch in London during the time I was working for Pod Productions.
